Non-Verbal Selling Skills!
As a small business owners we often concentrate
entirely on "what to say" when we're trying to sell.
As the owner of a business it's your job to make or
exceed the Monthly, Quarterly and Year End goals that
you've set.
In my previous life as a sales trainer I was often
asked questions like:
What should I say when I'm "handling" and objection?
What are hot "closes" that make prospects buy from me today.
What do you say to get past the gatekeeper.
How do you book appointments on the phone.
While these questions are certainly valid, I beleive they
take up too much of our selling efforts. From a ROSI
(return on selling investment) there is a much quicker
way to improve your sales results.
In any sales conversation we communicate on 3 different
levels or channels with our customers. We communicate
meaning with the words we use. We communicate meaning
with the voice qualities that we use when we transmit
our ideas and finally we communicate meaning through a
powerful "non-verbal" channel. In fact 55% of our
communication is "non-verbal" in nature.
What do yo mean "non-verbal"?
Non-Verbal communication is the way you "look and feel"
its often called charisma or self confidence. Emotional
energy is the business owners greates asset. A true
entrepreneurs is skilled at persuasion and influence skills.
Persuasion and influence is a mental process that takes
place both on a logical and emotional level. After 20 years
as a sales professional, I have never seen an emotional
sales person that didn't outsell a sales person who
focused on logical verbal persuasion.
They didn't say the right things on sales calls, They didn't
know all the bleeding edge closes. They never handled
objections, They never got past gatekeepers.
